Julie Brown is the Founder and Director of Growing Communities in Hackney, London and a trainer for the LEAP programme. Growing Communities runs a box scheme and a farmers’ market working with 30 organic farmers and supplying food to 3000 households a week. GC also does some of its own growing as well as training urban growers. GC helped set up ten similar schemes – which have now grown into the expanding network of Better Food Traders. Our wholesale arm – the Better Food Shed – was set up consolidate supplies to London-based BFTs.
