Shillingford Organics deliver multi award-winning local, organic vegetable boxes to Exeter and the surrounding area. They also have an online shop.
Shillingford Organics Farm is located in Shillingford Abbot, a small village just three miles west of Exeter. Set in a sheltered valley between Alphington and the Haldon Hills, the farm’s rich Devon red soil is perfect for growing arable and horticultural crops and has been fully organic since 2002.
We work in a way which is in harmony with nature to encourage biodiversity, improve the soil structure and biology and minimise our use of resources as far as possible. Growing organically is a strictly regulated way of producing crops without using artificial pesticides, insecticides or fertilisers and avoiding GM. We also keep our packaging to a minimum.
We also champion local – the vast majority of the produce in our standard boxes, market stall and wholesale is grown here at the farm.
We want to provide opportunities for people to connect with the farm and where their food comes from. We do this in a range of ways including regular newsletters, open days, volunteer days, and our farm school.
As well as running seasonal community events, Farm School runs educational weekly sessions throughout the seasons either for a morning or after school engaging children, and adults, in farming hands on activities ranging from composting, sowing, to harvesting, cooking and sharing their own crops.
As well as growing and delivering environmentally friendly food, our mission is to grow an environmentally responsible generation; promoting a healthier and more sustainable food culture that is both good for us people and our planet.
