Scoop is a sustainable cooperative, including an organic grocery shop, based in Jersey. The Sustainable Cooperative aims to create a more sustainable supply of food on the island. Food that doesn’t cost the earth.
Over 95% of the food we sell is certified organic, in transition to organic certification, or part of our Pathways to Organic Markets initiative. We place an emphasis on quality, seasonality and biodiversity. We celebrate open-pollinated heirloom varieties that have disappeared from supermarket supply chains, while sharing information on how to enjoy your discovery.
Our pricing policies are transparent, consistent and fair, for both the producer and the consumer.
We want shopping for food to be friendly, fun and sociable, full of pleasant surprises and new adventures. Members of staff are on hand to offer support and encouragement. We sometimes offer simple SCOOP soups and stews, local musicians play live acoustic sets, children draw in our community corner, customers chat and exchange ideas.
The Sustainable Cooperative was formed in 2018 to create a more sustainable supply of food on the island of Jersey. We recognised the impact our choices as consumers have on the environment and wanted to have an opportunity to shop in a way that we felt comfortable with.
In 2018 we received the Channel Islands Insurance Corporation Conservation Award and were named the Jersey Evening Post Pride of Jersey Environmentalists of the Year. We are signed up to the Chefs Manifesto, a member of Good Market Global and Plastic Free Jersey, part of the eco active business network and registered as a living wage employer. We actively support local charities, with fund raising initiatives and donations. Our membership has grown to over 250 members.
