Growing Well is based at Low Sizergh Farm on an organic site comprised of polytunnels and outdoor fields.
We run a Cropshare scheme, with over 100 local people buying our wonderful veg, salad and fruit – all seasonal, organic, and everything is boxed up less than 500 metres from the farm door, where they collect them.
We work with adults in Cumbria and North Lancashire who are experiencing mental ill health. Individuals attend the service on one day per week, which sits within a six acre organic horticultural enterprise on the farm, near Kendal, or on a 2 acre kitchen garden site at Tebay Services Northbound, near Penrith. The usual length of stay with us is between 6 months and 1 year. We offer activity as a powerful alternative (or accompaniment) to talking therapy.
Established in 2004, we’ve helped hundreds of people recover from their mental health challenges, with our unique approach to activity in the outdoors and goal-based outcomes.
