A group of organisations known as the Fruit & Veg Alliance has urged the new Secretary of State for DEFRA, Steve Reed MP, to support this country’s food producers and unleash the full potential of UK horticulture.
Better Food Traders has joined with organisations representing farmers, growers, retailers and nature, to call on the new Government go further than the previous administration and deliver a bold cross-departmental horticulture strategy, to ensure a resilient fruit and veg supply.
The Fruit & Veg Alliance includes Better Food Traders, the Landworkers’ Alliance, Soil Association, Sustain, Organic Farmers & Growers, CSA Network, The Wildlife Trusts, Growing Communities, Regather and Propagate.
The Alliance wants to see a Horticulture Strategy that joins the dots between Economic Revitalisation, Public Health and Environmental Resilience.
