We are a small market garden in West Dorset focused on growing the most delicious and nutritious vegetables that we can.
Our growing practices are considerate of the land that we tend, and we are driven by a desire to produce healthy vegetables, in bountiful quantities, for as many people as possible.
Springtail Farm is nestled on a hillside outside the small village of Wootton Fitzpaine, about ten miles from Bridport in West Dorset. We grow our produce on roughly half an acre of rented land at Fivepenny Farm, which is 43 acres in total.
It is thanks to the families at Fivepenny Farm that we’re able to do what we do. Access to land is often one of the biggest hurdles faced by new entrant farmers, but thanks to everyone at Fivepenny we’ve been able to learn and grow, experimenting and failing from the get-go, without the financial burden of buying land and taking on huge debt. For this we’re very thankful, and not sure where we’d be otherwise.
The rest of the farm is currently managed for a small flock of sheep, a herd of milking goats, as well as some other vegetable and fruit production, including apples, winter squash, jostaberries, black currants, and plums. We sell everything we grow, as well as some of the other delicious food from the larger farm, within about a ten miles radius.
