After 20 years in journalism – often writing about marketing – Chen progressed from Growing Communities veg scheme member to delivery worker and market manager before the lure of the warm office proved irresistible and she became Growing Communities Marketing Manager.

She reckons one of the joys of working for a small organisation is that you have such a broad and diverse job. In the space of a week, she could variously be found working as strategic planner, website editor, brand custodian, poster designer, event coordinator, PR manager, market researcher, copywriter, recipe tester or – crucially – photographer of wonky veg for social media.
