Alice is currently the Farm Business Manager at Sutton Community Farm. The team’s focus has been on growing their VegBox scheme, to provide a regular and resilient income to the farm to support their volunteering and educational opportunities. They have achieved a 20% increase in orders this year through improved and new acquisition channels. Before joining the farm, Alice worked at Gousto (a recipe kit company – more food in boxes!), managing the buying and quality control teams, and learnt a lot about operations too. She worked on developing the team and processes to match the company’s growth and deliver its vision of making it easy for families to cook at home. During the On Purpose Associate Programme (a development programme for professionals looking to transition into careers that use business for good), Alice worked for both a bus company and a water and sanitation charity. She enjoyed helping both businesses deliver their very different social impacts – through a marketing project to sell toilets in Madagascar and a software implementation project helping the bus company become more efficient. Alice is passionate about the power of social enterprise and ethical business, and eager to contribute to a growing sustainable food sector. She has had some experience mentoring other social enterprises, always an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
